In the heart of the East Village you find plenty of things: community gardens, restaurants, delis, bike repair shops, LP shops and of course, terrific bars. The latest trend are so called speakeasys, tucked away in alleys, or hidden behind telephone boots they are a remainder of the prohibition era. Luckily the quality of the drinks served has considerably improved ever since. One speakeasy retains our special attention for its remarkably creative Cocktails that lie their foundation in improvising with spices. The winner of the month is 'Mack the knife' for its delicious mixture of cinnamon, cayenne pepper and roasted thyme. Bravo !
