rusty ferry to cross the river, a sheep herd... A picnic you said ? Yes indeed.. On this same ferry, one night, fairies put up a few armchairs, a table, an ice bucket, a bottle of Champagne, glasses. It was toasting time..

Then they laid the table for dinner... In the background, we could see the bank lights. Who was behind all that ? Faro, the river's spirit ? This spirit usually takes the appearance of a beautiful Peulh woman with a white skin and profuse black hair. Her story is tragic : Faro was gone to milk her cows very early in the morning. On her way back, she decided to bathe naked in the river. Unfortunately she was caught out by her mother-in-law and her young brother-in-law. Peulh reserve is lengendary, Faro was so ashamed of herself that she never dared to show up again in her family. She prefered to jump into the river and disappear forever. She became a Siren, half woman half fish.
She lives in the river and watches Humans.  From time to time, she comes out of the water and assesses the bank dwellers. If they are kind and well-intentioned, Faro blesses them, if they are nasty and evil-minded she takes them into the water and drowns them. Apparently Faro was very protective that night...
